Frequently Asked Questions
If you have a question that is not answered below, please email us at FrontDesk@MotivateDance.com or call (515) 381-1628.
How long is the dance season?
Our Regular Season typically starts the week after Labor Day (September) and ends with our mandatory annual recital (June 5-7, 2025 @ Ames City Auditorium). Our regular dance season is a 9-month commitment!
How old does my child need to be to enroll?
We offer classes for students ages 2.5-18. We also offer adult sessions!
How do I enroll my child?
You can either register online:
https://app.gostudiopro.com/online/motivatedance
Or make an appointment to register in person.
What styles of dance do you offer?
We offer a wide variety of styles at Motivate Dance! Check out our Class Descriptions page to explore our different class options!
What if I don’t see a class that works in my schedule?
We try to make our schedule work for everyone, but we understand there will be conflicts. We appreciate suggestions, and if we get enough interest in adding a different class time we will do our best to accommodate!
When and where is the recital?
Recital is almost always the second weekend of June. For the 2025 season, it will be June 5-7, at Ames City Auditorium.
Do you accept male students?
Of course! Boys are welcome to join any of our classes! We do not, however, offer a “boys-only” class.
Are parents allowed to observe classes each week?
Definitely! We have a live feed of our classes in our reception area so parents can observe their students. This option was decided over observation windows to keep students fully engaged in class! However, as we continue to grow our dance family, seating is becoming limited!
Are students required to purchase specific apparel for class?
No. We believe that individuality is important, so we only ask that students wear something appropriate to dance in! (No jeans or jewelry.) Examples of appropriate attire are leotards, tights, athletic shorts, yoga pants, fitted tops, tank tops, etc. Hair should be neatly pulled away from face.
The only exception is for Ballet Ages10 and higher. Female dancers are required to wear a leotard and tights, as well as their hair pulled back in a bun. Male dancers must wear black tights or joggers (black shorts over the top are accepted) and a white or black shirt.
For ALL shoes, we do require dancers to have the same shoes as their classmates, and for convenience, we will be ordering and selling them in-studio!
What are your prices and are there additional fees?
To inquire about our tuition pricing, please contact Sam or stop by the studio. Our pricing is also available to you once you’ve made an account through our registration portal.
As far as additional fees go, we require a non-refundable $60 registration fee and $90 costume deposit when you sign up, $75 recital fee, and a $90 costume fee/class (all fees are for single students. Please see the question about discounts below for multiple student fees.) Other expenses include shoes, tights, and recital makeup.
*NEW POLICY* If you do not register before October 1st for our regular season, you will have to pay a late registration fee of $50/dancer in addition to your $50 registration fee. Registration for recital classes closes December 31.
When is tuition due?
Tuition is billed on the 1st of every month and is due by the 15th. If you are enrolled in auto-pay, your card will be charged on the 1st. If you do not pay by the 15th, you will be charged a $10 late fee. Dancers with outstanding balance 10 days after payment due date will be asked to sit and observe class until payment is made.
Do you offer any discounts?
Yes! We reward those that take multiple classes with a discount off their tuition! This discount is already built into our pricing structure, so once you register for multiple classes you automatically receive the discount. The more you take, the better value you get! We also have an unlimited class price, so once you reach $300/month, you can take as many classes as you want and your tuition stays the same!
We also offer 5% off your total tuition if it’s paid in full at the start of classes!
For more information about our pricing structure, please contact our Front Desk Staff or stop by the studio.
